By Ashley Thiesen Caldwell | February 6, 2010

Blackbaud Inc. recently announced their partnership with Charleston, SC’s professional soccer team, the Charleston Battery. Together they will be integrating different philanthropic themes to every home soccer match.

At each of the 13 home matches, Blackbaud and the Battery will feature a nonprofit organization. These game-day features will bring attention to the environment, education and families in need.

Blackbaud is well known within the nonprofit community. They are also known for being the sponsor of the Charleston Battery’s stadium, rightly named Blackbaud Stadium. The stadium is located on Daniel Island, SC and has been home to the Charleston Battery every since its opening in 1999. It is also commonly referred to as Battery Park.

Blackbaud Stadium seats 5,100 people and features various environmentally friendly elements. Much of the stadium has been converted to solar energy through the use of numerous solar panels located at the scoreboard end of the stadium. The panels are said to offset as much as 12 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

The Charleston Battery has an 18-year history of community involvement. To complement the Battery’s community involvement, Blackbaud provides more than 22,000 nonprofits with software and services, enabling them to improve operational efficiency and raise money in support their missions.

The Charleston Battery’s upcoming season is about to begin and the first home game is on March 13.
