Sportsmans’ Island on Daniel Island
on September 13th, 2007 at 5:35 amHankel-Marine and Scouts Boats have teamed up to build a $7 million dollar Sportsman’s Island. The retail and service center is being built off of Clements Ferry Road on Daniel Island and can be seen from I-526.
The store is 8,000 square feet and a privately built road and bridge are the only access to this new facility. Future plans for the site will also include a restaurant and a boat service center.
Construction of the “mini-mall” began in 2006 and is set for completion in November of this year. The exterior of Sportsman’s Island was designed to resemble many of the businesses and homes in the communities of Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant, Sullivans Island and Isle of Palms, Potts said.
There will be a half-acre pond on the site and the landscaping is set to look very Lowcountry. The interior of the main building was designed by Dennis Setterfield who has also done work for Polo and Walt Disney World. The complex is designed to be a “gathering place” according to Steve Potts, President of Scout Boats, Inc.
